Canoe the Ouse equipment is supplied for day hire and booked activity trips on the River Great Ouse and Grand Union Canal. All Canoes are fully licensed and insured. Included in the canoe hire are paddles, life jackets, a dry barrel, a canoe and map.

We provide a free courtesy transfer service to return you to your vehicle at the end of your days activity canoe trip.

Buoyancy Aid

When canoeing on the River Great Ouse or Grand Union Canal, people do, on occasion fall in or capsize. So for your safety everybody is issued with a bouyancy aid. For a bouyancy aid to provide protection when you need it, we have chosen a design that is comfortable and adjustable. In addition it has been chosen for its high bouyancy capability - to make you float more. They come in a variety of sizes, have adjustable front straps with heavy duty ladder locks enabling you to fine tune the fit to your torso. For additional comfort, all our buoyancy aids are designed with front clips rather than a pull over vest design

Dry Barrel

To keep your belongings dry when you are canoeing on the River Great Ouse or Grand Union Canal, each Canadian canoe is issued with a 30ltr dry barrel. We recommend that you take a mobile phone with you on your journey so that you can contact us in case of emergency or we can contact you if we need to. Therefore by putting your mobile phone in the dry barrel will ensure it does not get wet and broken. Other things you will be putting in the dry barrel will be electronic car keys, a spare change of clothing, a towel and maybe some food

*Please ensure that you do not put bottles of drink inside your dry barrel. Not only are they waterproof, but should they leak inside your dry barrel, everything you wanted to keep dry will now be wet and it is very important to stay dry and warm*

Paddle

We provide you with a paddle that is both lightweight and hardwearing. Canoeing on the Great River Ouse in the summer often has shallow water in places, so it is important that paddles are strong and can withstand the impact with the river bed. Our paddles come with a sturdy polypropylene blade on an aluminium shaft with a T-piece handle

Canadian Canoe

Canoeing on the River Great Ouse or Grand Union Canal is not difficult, but we have chosen luxury style Canadian canoes that combine tradition and technology in a safe and stable design. You will be using a canoe that has been chosen for its stability, capacity and comfort, the middle seat comes as a built in cool box complete with drinks and fishing rod holders.

These canoes can carry 2, 3 people or 2 Adults accompanying 2 small children.

*For multi-day hire it is recommended to have 2 people per canoe so that the canoe has the extra capacity for extra kit requirment such as a tent, sleeping bag, extra dry clothing, food supplies, etc*

Solo Kayaks

Kayaks are only available for hire to experienced paddlers with relevant qualifications.
